Makau Responds to Training Demand

Makau Corporation Answers Demand for Customer Service and Managerial Development

Provo, Utah, January 5, 2005 Customer Service and Managerial Development constitute the two largest learning content segments, according to the ASTD 2004 State of the Industry Report. Today Makau Corporation, a blended-solution training innovator, announced the release of a professional development library, satisfying demand for these learning content segments.

“Expenditure per employee group was greatest for customer service employees in 2003, with an average of 18 percent of expenditure going to that single employee group. However, an average of 28 percent of learning expenditure went to employees with managerial responsibilities (first-line supervisors, middle and senior managers, and executives combined).” Source: ASTD State of the Industry Report.

Makau’s new training library includes video-rich, self-paced training titles such as Customer Service and The Art of Active Listening, available on CDROM, DVD, VHS, Web Portal and Network Appliance. They are also available as part of our Live Online or On-Site scheduled training options.

“The only advantage any company has is customer service,” said Lee Miller, Seton Hall Adjunct Professor of Management. “If you lower your price, your competitors can do the same. If you release a new technology, your competitors can follow suit. Delivering good customer service is not hard, but it’s more than just being nice; it’s a matter of training.”

Regarding one of the new Makau managerial titles, NegotiationPlus 101, Miller said, “Negotiating is one leadership skill which is under-rated. We negotiate all day, everyday in the business world. We negotiate with subordinates and co-workers, with bosses and customers – it’s not just about negotiating with vendors.”

Other managerial titles in the Makau Learning Library include The Art of Meetings, Making the Transition to Management, and a Team Management series. Included with the Team Management series are titles such as: Enabling Teams, Managing Team Conflict, Leading Teams, and Team Participation.
