MAKAU INTRODUCES LINUX-BASED E-LEARNING SOLUTION
Orem, UT – Aug 15, 2006 – Makau Corporation, your next-generation Training Partner, today announced its membership in IBM's PartnerWorld for ISV program, and is providing a new e-Learning solution from The Makau Learning Appliance based on Novell's Integrated Stack for Linux (ISL). Available through Novell's business partner channel, ISL is a solution stack based on the integration of IBM software and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server from Novell, and is optimized for IBM System x* and BladeCenter® servers. ISL also includes Centeris® Likewise*, which eases the integration of Linux into Microsoft environments.
The Makau Learning Appliance* takes complication, guesswork, and high expense out of e-Learning. The Makau Learning Appliance* is a system that combines a Learning Management System with a choice of course libraries. It provides a total solution with everything an organization needs to implement e-Learning in their environment.
With Makau Learning Appliance, administrators can manage course assignments and access a wide variety of reports. Students can see which courses they are taking and required to take and work through them at their own pace.
The Makau solution is based on the Integrated Stack for Linux which includes IBM DB2® Express-C and IBM WebSphere Application Server® Community Edition running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server on IBM System x servers.
With the Makau Learning Appliance companies have access to:
A growing library of over 400 course modules
A built-in Learning Management System for easy administration
A server-based unlimited-user license instead of complicated multi-user licenses
On-site installation and training
Security of a high-quality server behind the firewall
On-going technical support
Prices starting under $15,000 for a one year subscription
IBM is working to expand the suite of applications that currently utilize the Integrated Stack for Linux through partners like Makau. With ISL, Makau now uses a pre-integrated database and application server on Linux to provide training across the enterprise. The low cost and flexibility of the Makau Learning Appliance* platform using the Integrated Stack for Linux, expands the value of the e-Learning solutions delivered. ISL will also enable Makau to enter new markets using this valuable solution.
According to Mark Lindsay, Vice President of Business Development with Makau Corporation, Makau is pleased to offer their customers and partners the Makau Learning Appliance*, a powerful training delivery platform with the Integrated Stack for Linux.
"Our customers will now have greater security and reliability with a reduction in costs through vendor choice," said Lindsay. "The scalable nature of this Integrated Stack fits perfectly with Makau's unlimited training license model, making this learning platform an even more cost affordable solution for our customers."
