Orem, Utah, September 20, 2005 With the announcement last month that Redmond, WAbased Microsoft Corporation will drop extended life-cycle support for their e-mail and collaboration product Exchange Server 5.5 on December 31, 2005, Makau Corporation has launched an initiative to meet the demand for upgrade training. An estimated 40 million servers will be switched to Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. If done incorrectly, this upgrade could cost far more in productivity losses than the software price. To help offset productivity down-turns, Makau has created two training modules addressing this upgrade and bundled them with two of its Exchange-specific Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) training modules. Given the critical nature of the upgrade, Makau has lowered its price on these modules to $299 for a limited time to allow even companies with little or no training budget to get the training they need.
“We know that many of these companies would try to go it alone and not train before making this crucial upgrade,” said Daniel Smith, Sen. VP at Makau. “We are hoping that our offer, which is as low as we can feasibly go, will help stave off the productivity losses in many of the companies we serve.”
Makau’s e-learning upgrade package trains IT staff on upgrading to Exchange 2003 from Exchange 5.5 and from Windows NT. It includes MCSE 2003 Exam 70-284 and MCSE 2003 Exam 70-294 training. Makau’s training is video-based and includes e-manuals for on-going reference. To meet the unique needs of larger, multi-server companies, Makau also offers custom, on-site training and coaching. Makau is also hard at work developing a training module for Novell’s new GroupWise 7 collaboration package.
